Vacation in the Lowest Point on Earth

by Shawn L Fitzpatrick

A new Luxury Hotel just opened at the lowest point on Earth – and it is the first Hilton Hotel property in the country of Jordan. Located 1345 feet below sea level, the Hilton Dead Sea Resort & Spa opened in Sweimeh, Jordan and it looks stunning.

The resort is located at the lowest point on Earth on the eastern shores of the Dead Sea and is the newest property to open in the area. The Dead Sea has long been a destination spot for health minded travelers, who seek the curative powers of the sea’s saline saturated waters and mineral-rich black mud.

“The Dead Sea is one of the most unique places in the world and has evolved into a major hub of both religious and health and wellness tourism in the region,” said Andreas Lackner, a Hilton executive who oversees brand management for the area.

Situated directly on the ocean, the resort has exclusive beach access as well as an infinity pool and sun deck. There is also a 24-hour gym and a spa.

The hotel’s 285 guest rooms all have terraces with sea views. Guests staying in executive rooms and suites will have access to the only executive lounge in the area.

Seven new restaurants offer plenty of dining options for guests, including the all-day Spectrum, middle eastern cuisine at 1312, italian fare at Bacchus, a beach bar and the Sky Bar rooftop lounge.

Nearby attractions within the country of Jordan include the ruins at Jerash, the lost city of Petra, and the spectacular slot canyon at Wadi Mujib, located less than a half hour from the hotel.

“Do not go where the path leads, travel instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”    @wbbrjp
